Shrews rock my story.
Here's a story that Matt and I made up while we were bored and chatting on MSN. It's boldly imaginative, and seems to smell a lot like cheese. :) I wrote everything in green, and he wrote everything in white. This is how it starts...
once upon a time there was a yellow...shrew
But fear not, all those who have fears of yellow shrews; he wasn't always yellow.
for upon high noon every other Tuesday, he becomes a rather burgundy shade
The doctors aren't quite sure why it happens this way, but they're pretty confident he was born like that.
But one clear Monday night...sometime around midnight. He became a dull brown...and henceforth was rejected by all the other yellow shrews
For the optimists who may be reading this story, keep in mind that this wasn't such a sorrowful day for everyone, since those who greatly feared yellow shrews did a lot of rejoicing.
In fact, the yeloshrephobics, quickly befriended this dull brown shrew as one of their own...they named him Brinck, which means "not yellow"
They boogied all night, until the break of dawn to celebrate his magnificent transformation.
but this did not satisfy Brinck...he wanted to see his old yellow fuzzy friends again...but the yeloshrephobics...(for fear of the rising ink prices in this region of Bulemia, I will call the Shreph's) would not let him return to his own kind
'Twas a sad occasion, and all the rodents throughout the world mourned... even the rats.
He sat at in his roomy bedroom staring out the window at the full moon that one day transformed his appearance...he wondered why his own kind would reject him based solely on color
He suddenly felt compassion for all of the other dull brown shrews he'd once made fun of so ignorantly.
He proceded to lie down in his dull brown bed and told himself how glad he was that he'd never run into another dull brown shrew
It was just then when he hears a shriek from beneath his blankets, a shriek loud enough and high enough to kill off the everday horsefly.
he proceeds to look under his blanket and finds a whole family of dull brown shrews! he just stands there...and wishes he could turn pale
It's unlikely that you, the reader, could comprehend why he would want to be pale, but it's because of the old Greek legend of The Great Pale Shrew.
In this legend, the ultra-rare pale shrew has the ability to turn invisible and escape from whomever he fears
Yes, I know, the Greeks were awesome to host such a legend as this, so we ought to be thankful for their awesomeness.
Pardon my rudeness, back to the story...the dull brown family was rather caught off guard to see another dull brown shrew such as theirselves in this part of the land
The shrew family scattered themselves, each going to a separate corner of the room for no apparent reason.
Except for one...a darker brown shrew who just smirked at Brinck...almost like he remembered him from somewhere it seemed.
All of the sudden, an eagle's beak swooped into the window, grabbing for any shrews possible, since eagles don't mind what colors they are.
the eagle took them to what they expected to be a nest...but in fact it was a large facility of many diverse colors of shrews.
In case you, the reader, are too foolish to predict what happens next, I will tell you now that this eagle was a mad scientist.
This mad scientists key intent was to prove that like creatures of diverse color and appearance can not peacefully co-exist.
And at this point, his experiments were going just as he had planned, which means that all of the shrews were living in complete chaos amongst each other.
The brown shrews looked in awe at the amassed chaos amongst so many shrews who's only difference was color and general appearance; and they were deeply saddened
