Hello everyone, have a post!
Today was better than yesterday. I wore a purple shirt. I wore a pastel lavender shirt. That's right... Joselynn in a pastel colored shirt. Weird, eh? *shrugs* I covered it with a black lace throw. The look was satisfactory. Enough of my shallow obsessions! I spent this morning lounging about my house, as I've grown so accustomed to doing. The afternoon was a bit more hectic. I traveled with my family to Wal*Mart, McDonald's, then Harrison's. After that, I went to my little sister's last softball game of the season. This is her fifth grade year in softball, and in my opinion, she isn't played enough. Then again, that's a protective sister for you. *smiles* I was able to spend some time with my best friend while I was at the softball game. That was nice. I've been hanging out with her a little more recently. It's good for me. I've missed that. A friend of mine, name Stanley will be staying the weekend at my house. Fear not, dear friends, Stanley is indeed a girl, haha. The book I've started reading is getting good. I think I'll enjoy it quite a lot. Now that my life has sufficiently bored you to death, I'll move on to something less about me. Isn't it odd how fantasy is ever so much better than reality? I'm off to my book writing...
"Something bothering you, dear?" Candi's father asked with affection. He had noticed the tears in her eyes and felt a lump growing in his stomach. He could not decide whether or not it was too early to be exposing Candi to the outside world. This was a tough decision for both Stanley and Samantha, but they had always hoped that their Candi would marry a fine, young man and have a beautiful family.
"No, Dad. I'm just fine. I'm really excited, truly I am!" Candi replied. Stanley wasn't convinced. Candi figured a little nervousness for a trip like this was to be expected. This was, after all, the first time she'd ever really left her home. There was the occasional trip to a relative's house, but nothing that could measure up to this.
An idea popped into Stanley's mind. Music always seemed to lift Candi's spirits. Perhaps some music is what she needed. He stretched his arm over the dashboard to grab a cassette tape. Smiling, he slid the tape into the old-fashioned tape player. He punched the play button with his finger firmly. Candi giggled. Her daddy always knew just what to do to make her feel better.
The southern gospel music feeled their station wagon with a warm melody. Candi could feel her nerves calm as she began humming along to the tune of Amazing Grace. This was exactly what she needed. All of her fears fell away. All of her worries melted with the sweet harmonies of the song. It felt like magic.
She looked out the window. She noticed that they were meeting more cars along the road. They had turned off onto a highway. She could feel herself being carried away by the excitement of it all. This would be fun! They were nearing the city, and she was about to experience the best time of her life.
Stanley said, "I'm glad to see you've perked up. That worked even faster than I'd thought it would." He gloated a bit at his own genius idea. They were nearing the city, and this was it. He was about to set his baby girl free. They were seeing buildings more often and closer together.
The factories hypnotized Candi. This was all foreign to her. This was new territory. She bounced in her seat to the music coming through the speakers. Her goal for the day would be to have as much fun as possible and to learn as much about civilization as she could before returning home. The car slowed and pulled into a driveway.
Candi's father put the vehicle in park and opened his door. They had finally arrived. Candi stepped out of the car and soaked up as much of the city air in one breath as she could. It was intoxicating. She smiled brightly as she spun around happily, observing the marvelous miracle that she had been ignorant of for so long.
That's all I'll write for now. The story is coming along much too slowly for my taste. I'll try to speed it up a little next time. I think I've said my piece for the evening. I am, once again, craving music. Music sounds fabulous. Love, peace, and all that jazz... God bless. Goodnight.
